Kubasaki High School Dragons make first

overseas VNC connection!

In yet another technological breakthrough, DoDEA’s Kubasaki High School located in Okinawa, Japan, made the first overseas connection to GAVRT using the new VNC Web Application. With the help of science teacher John Thomas, students were able to control DSS12 from their classroom and actively participate in the ongoing Uranus Campaign.

Kubasaki High School, located on Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan, is situated on the lower portion of the island.

Science students Nick Ziegler (in red) and Phillip Clark (in blue) listen patiently as Mr. Thomas explains the calculation process to determine the temperature on Uranus.

Ashley Holt (above right) waits and watches as Phillip Clark (above in the dark) monitors DSS12 during the long scanning process of Uranus.

Science teacher John Thomas helps his students as they attempt to calculate the temperature on Uranus from the data they have collected.
