LCER Research Reveals Tips to Improve Student and Scientist Interactions!

*Prepare students with background knowledge. It is more important than preparing “canned” questions.

*Limit teacher questions during the teleconference.

*Encourage students to ask questions other than those that are pre-planned.

*Get students used to asking questions by modeling an open, inquiry-based classroom.

*Share information from the JPL scientists’ and the LCER facilitators’ biographies prior to the teleconference.
