About the Local Outreach

The Lewis Center for Educational Research, formerly the Apple Valley Science and Technology Center, offers hands-on educational programs to students and the community since it's opening in 1990. Since that time, the Lewis Center has hosted more than 110,000 students, teachers, and parents participating in field trips, clubs, and other educational activities.

Volunteers implement Local Outreach programs. The Lewis Center Volunteer Organization consists of former teachers, businesspersons, and the community-at-large who share their time and talents with children of all ages from the High Desert and beyond. We offer a variety of science and social studies programs, which align with the State of California Board of Education content standards.
