Lucy Tello, Director

Lucy Tello, a proud San Bernardino native, is a passionate community advocate with a deep commitment to public education and youth development. After dedicating ten years to her family as a stay-at-home parent, she channeled her passion for service into volunteer leadership, currently serving as the Elementary Vice President for the NSLA PTO. In this role, Lucy has successfully led events like the Rocket Races and Fall Festival, strengthening the sense of community at NSLA. A tireless advocate for youth empowerment, Lucy focuses on building collaborative partnerships between the NSLA community, surrounding neighborhoods, and the Lewis Center to drive growth and innovation. She is also a co-leader of a local Girl Scouts troop and an active mom involved in soccer and ballet folklorico. Before transitioning to full-time volunteer work, Lucy was employed by various educational agencies across San Bernardino County. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Art, Music, and Theater from California State University, San Bernardino. Lucy Tello joined the Lewis Center for Educational Research Board of Directors in 2024.

Yolanda Carlon
Yolanda Carlos has over 30 years’ experience in early childhood education.  She has served as an instructor for Victor Valley Union High School District for 27 years and at Pacific Oaks College School of Education for 9 years as professor of the BA and MA Early Childhood Education degree programs. Professor Carlos holds a MA Ed in Early Childhood Education from Cambridge College.  She developed a (2021) micro credential: Social Emotional Learning and Cultural Identity for three CETYS campuses in Mexico and their Spanish speaking student teacher candidates. She has  presented over 5 TCS Globe Talks (2021) in partnership with STADIO South Africa University on COVID, Trauma, and other relevant topics; presented papers and workshops at State wide and international conferences: presenting at The Learner Scholar Conference, Belfast, Ireland Queen’s University on the topic of Anti-Bias through the Lens of the Practitioner (2019), Hong Kong International Conference on Education, Psychology, and Society (2018), China (2018) and California focusing on STEAM specialization developed for educators and a specialization in Trauma for teachers at the World Forum (2017).  Yolanda has also served in the non-profit community based organization, “A Better Way” as a parenting instructor and as a board member.  Yolanda joined the Lewis Center for Educational Research Board of Directors in 2022.

Dr. Steve Levin has worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory since 1990.  During that time, his research interests have included the Cosmic Microwave Background, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI), measuring magnetic fields in star-forming regions, looking for near-Earth asteroids, modeling radio emission from Jupiter’s radiation belts, and microwave observations of Jupiter.  He has done radio astronomy from large radio telescopes, mountain top research stations, the South Pole, high-altitude balloons, and spacecraft.  He is currently the Project Scientist for Juno, Lead Co-I for the Juno Microwave Radiometer, and Lead Scientist for the Goldstone Apple Valley Radio Telescope project (GAVRT).  He has co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed scientific papers.  He was also an elected member of the board of education of Culver City Unified School District from 2013-2022, and is a frequent speaker on science topics at schools and public venues.  Dr. Levin graduated with a Ph.D. in Physics in 1987 from the University of California at Berkeley.  Dr. Levin joined the Lewis Center for Educational Research Board of Directors in 2023.

Dr. Lisa Lamb, President/CEO (non-voting member)

Dr. Lisa Lamb is the President/CEO of the Lewis Center for Educational Research.  Prior to this position she was the Chief Academic Officer. Her tenure at the LCER/Academy for Academic Excellence (AAE) began in July 2008. During this time, she has served in the roles of AAE Teacher, AAE Middle School Vice Principal and AAE K-12 Principal. Lisa began her career in Barstow Unified School District as a teacher, and then administrator, working with a largely underserved student population. In 2005, she was honored as the WalMart Teacher of the Year and also the Teacher of the Year for Barstow Junior High School. Currently, she is an active member of the California Charter School Association (CCSA), CCSA Capitol Advocacy Leaders Liaison, CAHELP Governance Council, Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Victor Valley Chamber of Commerce. Lisa holds a MA in Educational Administration from California State University San Bernardino, a MA in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University and a BA in Liberal Studies from California Baptist University.

Jessica Rodriguez, Treasurer

Jessica Rodriguez, Treasurer

Jessica Rodriguez started her career with Goodwill Southern California over 15 years ago.  She is the Regional Director of Workforce and Career Development and oversees workforce and career development programs in the Inland Empire.  She has the honor of working with local non-profits, business leaders and local leaders in public office.  Jessica has always had a passion for helping people.  Before coming to Goodwill she had the opportunity to work with families in a shelter setting.  Jessica graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a BS in Human Services and minor in Chicano Studies.  Jessica has sat on the San Bernardino Youth Engagement Team and was appointed to the San Bernardino County Workforce Development's Special Populations Committee.  Ms. Rodriguez joined the Lewis Center for Educational Research Board of Directors in 2019.

Marisol Sanchez
Marisol Sanchez is the proud second-generation Franchisee of 11 McDonald’s Restaurants in the High Desert and San Bernardino area. Marisol actively supports and serves the local community, families, and children through the Ronald McDonald House Charities and Food Donation Programs. Marisol currently serves on the Ronald McDonald House Inland Empire Board of Trustees. Prior to joining McDonald’s, she was a criminal prosecutor serving as Deputy District Attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. She has extensive trial experience, trying both felonies and misdemeanors throughout Los Angeles County. Marisol graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Berkeley in 2002. She received her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2005. Marisol was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2005 and is still an active member.  Ms. Sanchez joined the Lewis Center for Educational Research Board of Directors in 2022.
Patrick Schlosser, Director

Patrick Schlosser, Director

Patrick Schlosser grew up and attended school in Apple Valley Unified School District where he now works.  He began as a volunteer teacher in the United States Peace Corps in Eritrea in 1996.  Once he returned to the USA in 1998, he secured a position at his high school Alma Mater, Apple Valley High School.  He served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and Principal at AVHS until 2013.  He moved to the district office as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and now proudly serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. Mr. Schlosser was appointed to the Lewis Center for Educational Research Board of Directors by Apple Valley Unified School District in 2022.
