Meal Applications
For school year 2024-25, Lewis Center for Educational Research participates in the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program by offering healthy meals every school day. The California Universal Meals Program, AB 130, requires public school districts serving students in grades K–12 to provide two meals free of charge (breakfast and lunch) during each school day to students requesting a meal, regardless of their free or reduced-price meal eligibility.
Although meals will be free for all, the state continues to require school districts to distribute and collect Benefit applications. Benefit, or also known as Free/reduced-price applications allow the district to collect essential data needed to qualify for additional school funding intended to support academic programs for your student. Additionally, free/reduced eligibility can qualify households for things such as discounted internet services, P-EBT benefits, discounted rates on your energy bill, and more. Households are encouraged to apply online.
Below are some frequently asked questions and answers to help you with the application process.

We are excited to be back to school and start the new school year! The nutrtion sercives department will be adding many things throughout the school year, so please visit this page for further annoucements. Last school we added digital menus(pictured above) to both schools and also added a service door to AAE!
This year meals will continue to be provided at NO COST to our students!! Meaning ANY STUDENT can get 1 FREE BREAKFAST & LUNCH per school day!!
Breakfast will be served 30 minutes prior to the start of school through 8:30am every morning. Studies have shown starting the day with breakfast increases student engagement/achievement in school and reduces discipline.
Although meals are provided at NO COST to our students, we are still in need of all families submitting a meal application or Alternative Income Form to ensure our school receives all school funding available.
